Find the task behind the feature

First describe the problem users want to solve. An extensive editor is unnecessary if a simple structured input is sufficient. Check assumptions through interviews and an early prototype before planning complex features.

Use existing solutions deliberately

Libraries and managed services can handle recurring needs. Assess suitability, maintainability, privacy and dependencies with engineers. Less custom code helps only when the chosen solution remains appropriate for the requirements.

Reduce interface complexity too

Remove unused variations and consolidate similar flows. A design system with documented states prevents each feature from developing its own interaction rules. Error, loading and empty states matter as much as the ideal journey.

Use AI as assistance, not approval

AI tools can accelerate ideas, drafts and code suggestions. Accuracy, accessibility and technical quality still require review. Confidential information needs appropriate handling, and unverified suggestions should not go straight into a product.
